Year One

Term Overview

Our topic for this half term is Medieval Mania. More information can be found in the topic overview below.

Optional homework sheets will be sent home twice a half term. Each sheet will contain a list of activities linked to English, Maths, Science and wider curriculum subjects that we are learning about in class. Please send homework tasks in as and when they are completed, books will be collected at the end of the three weeks.

Compulsory homework is the same for every child in the school. Please listen to your child read five times a week for ten minutes. Each child in Year One has log in details for Numbots. This is a maths based game that allows the children to practise skills of counting, addition, subtraction and number bonds in a fun way. Please help them to log on for ten minutes, five times a week.

Forest School

Forest school will take place every Wednesday afternoon. Please provide your child with suitable footwear and appropriate clothes so that they can enjoy the experience in all weathers. The children may come to school in their forest school clothes on Wednesday, and they will change footwear and waterproofs before they go outside.

PE will take place every Tuesday afternoon. The children will be required to change into their PE kits at school. This will allow them to develop their motor skills and encourage independence.

Mrs Wilding will teach music every Thursday afternoon.
