Curriculum:

Our topic for this half term is The Age of Rock! We will be learning all about the Stone Age.

In Science, we will begin this half term by studying rocks and soils, we will investigate different rocks and look at the different layers of soil. At the end of this half term we will be looking at electrical circuits.

In history, we will be developing a broad understanding of life in Britain for early settlers. placing events, artefacts and historical figures on timelines using dates. We will consider how society has changed over time. We will look at hunter-gatherers and the threats they faced, how early settlers lived in the Stone Age, how they lived and survived.

In Art, we will focus on Cave art, we will also use natural materials in forest school to create out own cave paintings.

In Design and Technology, we will be thinking carefully about Stone Age Round Houses to build our very own, we will then use our knowledge of circuits from science to create electrical fires.

In music, for fun we will be learning the song ‘Living in the Stone Age’, we will also learn to sing two songs from memory: Cave People and Mary Anning. Will will accompany these songs using chime bars and glockenspiels.

Your children should wear their outdoor clothing to school on this day.
