Our teachers are Mrs Jones (Monday-Wednesday) and Mrs Galvin (Thursday-Friday). We are lucky enough to be supported by Mrs Edwards and Miss Leather.
As always, please do not hesitate to get in contact if you have any questions.

This half term we will begin by learning to retell the story of The Three Little Pigs using actions and expression. Once we are familiar with the structure of this story we will change the characters to create a new version. During this learning we will be focusing on using: capital letters and full stops, questions, adjectives to give detail, interesting vocabulary and conjunctions.
After this we will be looking at a poem called Ten Things Found in a Wizard’s Pocket.
The focus of this half term will be addition and subtraction. As well as using a range of resources, we will practise counting forwards and backwards from any given number. To break up this calculation work we will have a shape week where the children will learn to name and describe a range of 2D and 3D shapes.
This half term will focus on animals and plants. The children will learn how different animals are suited to their environments and we will identify and name deciduous and evergreen trees around the school. Finally the children will work together to design their own garden.
Our new topic is called Poles Apart. During this topic we will learn about the Arctic Circle and Antartica. We will compare life in the Poles to our life in the UK, learn about an explorer called Ernest Shackleton and, at the end of the term, we will sew snowmen hand puppets.
Optional homework sheets will be sent home twice a half term and will also be posted on this class page. Each sheet will contain a list of activities linked to English, Maths, Science and wider curriculum subjects we are learning about in class. Please send homework tasks in as and when they are completed.
Compulsory homework is the same for every child in the school. Please listen to your child read five times a week for ten minutes. Each child in Year Two has log in details for Numbots. This is a maths based game that allows the children to practise skills of counting, addition, subtraction and number bonds in a fun way. Log in details can be found at the front of their reading record. Please help them to log on for ten minutes five times a week. We use the app in school so they know what to do when they are logged on. If your child is on the RWI Spelling programme (you will have had a letter about this), please support them in learning the spellings recorded in their log book. This log book needs to come in and out of school every day with their reading book and reading record.
Our Forest School Day is Wednesday; children are kindly asked to arrive in Forest School appropriate clothing on this day. We will be going outside every week (no matter the weather!) during science or topic lessons. It would be helpful if children could have a pair of wellies or suitable outdoor shoes in school for the wetter weather.
Our PE day is Friday. Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school for them to be able to fully participate in the sessions. Full PE kit includes: a red t-shirt, black shorts or jogging bottoms and trainers or pumps. I will send PE kits home at the end of every half term to be washed.
